You get 15 days "entry" visa if you enter by land. New rules took effect December 2008. If you land at Bangkok (Flying in) you will get 30 day "entry" visa on arrival.
If you don't apply for a regular visa at your home Thai embassy before you leave, you will be give the regular entry.
You can get a 60 day Visa at most Thai Embassies. This means you get 60 days that can be extended for a fee for 30 days.
Flying into Thailand you still get 30 days stamp without a visa;
if you come overland, you will be ALLOWED TO STAY ONLY 15 DAYS.
